Sculpture Making sculptures is Marcel van Campen his core business. Reflections and thoughts on nature, man and animal are translated into images. The images are not cut but are made and composed with a lot of technical skills and crafts. Wood, metal and bronze are the main materials which he works with. Plastics are sometimes a starting point for shapes and forms but are also used as a texture for the surface of them. Combining wood with gold leaf gives the objects a religious serenity. The different sizes, small 3-dimensional studies are sometimes enlarged but have also their independent sculptural value. The form-language he develops is a stylized translation of the objects he takes as a starting point. The original objects are still recognizable but through abstraction the objects are turned into a dream world that tends to surrealism.
